Blythefield Curve Works

Making Essential Repairs

We want to be a good neighbour and very much care about how works like these can impact our railway neighbours.

The nature of this work means our engineers are often working late at night making essential repairs, often at short notice, in order to keep rail services running safely for passengers.

Most of what we do is not disruptive, however at times some inconvenience is unavoidable.

We very much regret this and take steps to reduce any impact such as noise barriers; please be assured our staff and contractors will do their utmost to work quickly and considerately to minimise any local disturbance. We would like to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

What takes place on our railways...

Day-to-day running of trains

The day-to-day running of the railways and train services generate a certain amount of noise, particularly when railway lines are curved.

Track maintenance and renewal

Repairing and replacing track and components to ensure high performance and safe operating standards

De-Vegetation

Our work clearing vegetation by the railway helps to keep trains running safely and on time. Removing overgrown trees and removal of fallen leaves intensifies at different times of the year (Vegetation work involves detailed planning and consideration of environmental impact, our lineside neighbours, local schools, park users and wildlife nesting seasons).

Footpath and road closures

Works such as bridge reconstructions often require the closures of footpaths and roads near our railways and every effort is made to minimise disruption to local communities and restore accessibility as quickly as possible.

Community Notice Board Announcements...

We want to be able to tell our neighbours in advance of any works, usually this is done by a letter drop. In an effort to do this better, we are trialling a faster more modern approach, setting up a new ‘Community Notice Board Announcements’ campaign to share accurate and timely information on local engineering works.  This will be particularly useful on those occasions when immediate safety repairs must be carried out.

We will work with local community leaders and representatives who can share our Community Notice Board announcements via their social media pages, helping to spread the word and keep our neighbours up to date.
