Third Party Works

THIRD PARTY WORKS PROCEDURE

Contact the Third Party Works (TPW) team at the earliest opportunity if you propose any work within 50 metres of the railway boundary or within 200m of a level crossing or with the potential to cause ‘blocking back’.

A third party, as set out in this procedure, may refer to the third party itself, client, its agents, consultants, representatives or contractors (including sub-contractors). 

All Third Party Works shall be carried out in accordance with the NIR Third Party Works Procedure.

Examples of Third Party Works

Translink Third Party Works team can help you with the requirements and potential solutions for various types of works / activities around the railway including:
  • Construction or Building works
  • Cranes, Piling, MEWPS and lifting equipment
  • Utility works 
  • Bridge works including work at over or under bridges
  • Road / Footway, resurfacing and traffic management schemes 
  • Access onto the railway network
  • Works at Level Crossings
  • Domestic related projects (e.g. house extension & excavation works affecting slopes/retaining walls) 
  • Domestic maintenance (e.g. roof, scaffolding, building repair, maintenance, boundary works and Tree or vegetation management)

Trees & Vegetation Management

If you or your tree surgeon propose to cut tree(s) on third party lands which may be of risk to the railway or the safe passage of trains during these works, please contact the Third Party Works team to submit a TPW request. Contact Third Party Works

Please do not start any works until permission to proceed has been granted by our TPW team in order to assess the risk and facilitate measures to protect the railway where necessary.

The TPW team do not manage trees or vegetation within the railway corridor and therefore cannot provide advice in that regard. Please Contact Us for other relevant Translink queries.
