Translink celebrates rainbow of diversity as it prepares for Belfast Pride

18 July 2023

Translink is preparing for the annual Belfast Pride parade which will see thousands attend the city centre event in support of equality and diversity and celebrate LGBTQ+ people.

Following the welcome success of previous years, Translink will once again operate a bus for people with accessibility issues to help them take part in the parade. Anyone who may find it difficult to walk such as those with mobility, mental health or sensory issues as well as families with young children are invited to join Translink and be part of the celebrations.

Translink staff will also join with friends and family to take part in the much-loved parade, demonstrating their support for equality and diversity, with a colourful samba band to help provide a celebratory atmosphere.

In addition, Translink will help welcome Pride attendees with complimentary face-painting at Lanyon Place Station, Great Victoria Street and Europa Bus Stations.

Speaking about the importance of the key LGBTQ calendar event, Jacqui Kennedy, Chief People Officer, said:

“We’re extremely proud to be able to support Belfast Pride attendees with services like the mobility bus which helps ensure this popular event is accessible for all, regardless of mobility or health issues. We look forward to welcoming passengers on board our services as they travel to this fantastic event to enjoy a day of celebration and connection along with our staff.

To register to use the mobility bus, interested attendees should contact pride@translink.co.uk
