New North West Rail Timetable

"Your efforts to keep our passengers safe and help them to get home have been greatly appreciated..."
18th January 2013

Dear Colleagues,

This week, we launched a consultation for members of the public to respond to two possible options for a new North West Rail Timetable. The options identified affect early morning trains and we are seeking customer preference so that the Spring 2013 timetable can be confirmed.

The safety and improvement works between Coleraine and Derry~Londonderry continue to progress on schedule and the line is due to re-open at the end of March. We are currently meeting with a wide range of stakeholders in the North West to outline proposals including local Universities, Colleges, businesses and political representatives. Special public consultation events will be held on Thursday 24th January at 10am - 1pm in Coleraine Bus & Rail Centre and in Foyle Street Bus Station, Londonderry on January 28th at 10am-2pm.  In addition we will also survey customers on board train services along the Londonderry railway line on January 30th & 31st.

You may recall that NI Railways was selected as a European Business Awards UK Champion for customer service in November from a shortlist of some 32 UK organisations.  We have just been awarded the esteemed Ruban D’Honneur Status following further judging in London before Christmas and are now through to the final stage of the awards, which will see our ‘Customer Focus’ submission presented to a judging panel in Dusseldorf in March.

Finally, I would like to thank all employees who have been working through another week of disruptions to our bus services.  Your efforts to keep our passengers safe and help them to get home have been greatly appreciated and I thank you for your professionalism and commitment in the face of very difficult circumstances.
