SCHOOL BUS SAFETY

This year Translink marked 20 years of our dedicated Safety Bus education programme visiting schools across Northern Ireland.

Our Safety Bus can visit around 350 schools each academic year, engaging with up to 25,000 students. It plays a vital role in educating students about how to stay safe while using public transport addressing key areas including boarding and getting off the bus, storing school bags during the journey, buying tickets, the importance of CCTV on board our vehicles and the effects of anti-social behaviour plus the importance of treating our staff with respect.

 On 18th June the Air Ambulance held a fun day for three hundred members at the Eikon Centre. They shared safety tips and give demonstrations on the day. The School Bus Safety team had a great impact on the junior members in getting safety messages across.
