Tickets & Travel Cards
Get the right one for your journey
From 01 September 2020 full-time students travelling in Northern Ireland will be able to apply for a FREE 24+ Student Railcard. If you are 24 years of age or over and in full-time education you can get great savings on NI Railways with 1/3 off cash and mLink singles, day return*, weekly and monthly tickets and up to 50% off Enterprise fares.
The 24+ Student Railcard is valid for the academic year (September to August) and the card is now FREE. You need to present your 24+ Student Railcard when travelling. If you are unable to produce a valid card you will be required to buy a new ticket at the full price and may be liable for prosecution.
We understand public transport is a vital link for young people to access education, social activities, medical appointments and visiting family and friends. We want you to feel safe when using our services – we’ve introduced:
- New hand sanitizing stations and enhanced cleaning in station and on board.
- Social distancing measures.
- Reduced touch points with more ways to pay on mLink for 24+ customers (no change policy on board).
- Please don’t forget your face covering!
You can apply for a 24+ if you're a student aged 24 years or over on a full-time course in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain. Sorry, but part-time or evening students or those on training courses are not eligible.
To get your card, download and fill out the application form and take it to your nearest NI Railways Station. You will also need to bring along the following:
1 colour passport sized photograph - Name & date of birth must be written on the reverse of the photo.
College/University Photo ID confirming Full-Time Attendance - (a registration receipt/letter from your College/University confirming full-time attendance PLUS a valid passport or driver’s licence will be accepted in the absence of College Photo ID).
Proof of age & identity - Any one of the following: Birth/Adoption Certificate, Passport, Driving Licence, Any Student ID Card (which shows DOB), Official Letter from College (which confirms DOB)).
You will receive your 24+ Student Railcard within 7 working days. Postal applications cannot be accepted. Remember, you need to renew your card each academic year!
