Translink operates dedicated school transport services alongside our scheduled bus and rail services, connecting pupils to schools across Northern Ireland.

Travel for 16 - 23 Year Olds

yLink is a smartcard for all 16-23 years olds using Translink services within Northern Ireland. 

You get 50% off Translink bus and rail travel* in Northern Ireland and up to 50% off Enterprise for up to 8 years – and the card is FREE!

mLink

The quicker and easier way to travel with Translink. Buy, receive & use your tickets via your mobile. You can buy your Weekly, Monthly, 3 Day Flexi and new 1 Day Peak and 1 Day Off-Peak tickets using your mobile phone. 

You can also download the mLink app to your child’s phone (if they have one). Parents can send tickets to their child through the app.

Translink Child Smartlink card

If your child doesn’t have an EA pass, you can buy a Translink Child Smartlink card. This lets you load several journeys onto the card at once.

If you require assistance purchasing a Smartlink card, please contact us. When using our contact form, please choose 'School Services' in the 'Enquiry' drop down and include the stop your child will board the bus at and the name of their school. We will get back to you with the cost and instructions on how to buy.

Safety is our top priority. We ask all passengers to be vigilant when getting on and off buses and trains.

  • Avoid distractions like headphones and mobile phones near roads, stairs, and platforms
  • Take extra care when crossing roads after exiting a bus
  • Always stand behind the yellow line on a platform

Bus and Rail Pupils - Pass Validity Conditions

This ticket is valid for one journey in each direction until 6.30pm between the validity dates shown on the front, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and School Holidays. The forward journey must be made before noon.

Bus and Rail Further Education College Students - Pass Validity Conditions

This ticket is valid for one journey in each direction until 21.30pm between the validity dates shown on the front, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and School Holidays. The forward journey must be made before noon.
