‘The Art of Connection’ by Artist in Residence Ed Reynolds now open at Belfast Grand Central Station 

Translink has launched The Art of Connection, a new exhibition by Artist in Residence Ed Reynolds, now open at Belfast Grand Central Station from 23–31 March 2026. 

Delivered as part of Translink’s Better.Connected strategy, the exhibition is now open at Belfast Grand Central Station. 

Chris Conway, Translink Group CEO, said, “Through Better.Connected, we’re reimagining public transport as a shared civic space- one that connects people, places and communities across Northern Ireland, supports more sustainable ways to travel, and brings everyday journeys to life in a truly human way. 

“Hosted in the concourse of Belfast Grand Central Station, the exhibition reinforces the station’s role as a civic destination at the heart of Belfast bringing communities together through travel, place and culture.” 

Spanning journeys across Northern Ireland, The Art of Connection offers a unique artist’s perspective on life across the Translink network. 

Ed Reynolds, Translink Artist in Residence said- “Travelling across Northern Ireland on Translink services, I saw first-hand how public transport brings people and communities together. This work reflects those journeys- not just the places we pass through, but the connections and people that make them meaningful.” 

The collection features paintings created on bus, rail and Glider routes- from busy city platforms to rural halts and coastal landscapes- capturing the everyday rhythm of travel across the network. 

Alongside the exhibition, Ed engaged with communities through workshops with schools and local groups, and mentored students from the Belfast School of Art at Ulster University, with one student’s work now included in the exhibition. 

The project has been delivered in partnership with Arts & Business NI and creative partner Daisychain, demonstrating the impact of collaboration between artists, businesses and communities.

Translink also thanked colleagues across the organisation who supported Ed throughout his residency, helping him experience and capture the network first-hand. 

The Art of Connection is open to the public daily at Belfast Grand Central Station until 31 March 2026.
