We want to make travel safe, comfortable and easy for everyone. We welcome people with visible and non-visible disabilities on our buses and trains.

We work with Disability Action to carry out mobility scooter assessments at a convenient time and location.

Mobility scooters

We are not required by law to carry mobility scooters on our buses and trains. However, we know how important they are for independent travel, so we have a scheme to check whether your scooter is suitable for use on our services.

Before you travel, please contact us. We need to check that your scooter fits safely in the wheelchair space on our low-floor buses and trains.

Suitable mobility scooters can travel on low-floor buses and trains only. Mobility scooters cannot travel on high-floor coaches.

The process has 3 steps for the customer: 

Step 1

• Contact us using our contact form or call our Contact Centre on 028 90 66 66 30.
• Tell us your name, contact details, and your mobility scooter's make, model and dimensions.
• The largest mobility scooter we can accept is: 
  • Bus: 55cm wide and 110cm long
  • Rail: 70cm wide and 125cm long
• Our Accessibility Manager will contact you to confirm your scooter's dimensions and ask for your permission to share your details with Disability Action.

Step 2

• Disability Action will contact you to arrange an assessment at a time and place that suits you. The assessment will take place at your nearest bus or rail station.
• After the assessment, Disability Action will send us the results.

Step 3

• We will write to you with the result of your assessment and provide information to help you travel on our services.
• If your scooter is approved, we will send you a sticker to place on your mobility scooter.
• The sticker lets our staff know that your scooter has been assessed and approved for travel on our services.

Standard sized wheelchairs are permitted on board bus, coach and rail services without the need for any assessment.

Shop Mobility

Shop Mobility have a range of wheelchairs and mobility scooters that are available throughout the province. When signed up to using their scheme, you can borrow their equipment for free to assist on onward journeys.
