We are committed to ensuring that all of our train services meet the needs of all users.
All our trains have been designed to provide easy access, including the following features:
NIR Trains
- A ramp (stored on board) to assist with access
- Two dedicated spaces for wheelchair users
- priority seats for the use of disabled passengers
- An accessible toilet
- On board audio and visual announcements
- Strong colour contrasting inside and out
- Good handrail provision within carriages; and
- Button activated automatic doors.
Enterprise Trains
Our cross border services between Belfast and Dublin have two dedicated spaces for wheelchair users, an accessible toilet and audio and visual announcements.
Wheelchair spaces on cross boarder services can be reserved in advance at time of purchasing a ticket.
Our Rail Staff
All our trains have on board conductors who have been trained to provide appropriate assistance including:
- Deploying the ramp and providing assistance to help you to get on and off the train
- Asking passengers to move from priority seats if they are able to do so
- Proactively identifying passengers who may require assistance and not waiting to be asked before offering support.
At our main stations platform staff are available to assist you around the station and to and from platforms.

Changing Places
Our Changing Places Toilets are there for you, whether you’re making those everyday journeys or enjoyable days out with family and friends. Spacious facilities, featuring specialist equipment, they meet a range of complex accessibility needs. You’ll find them in the Belfast Grand Central Station, North-West Multi-Modal Transport Hub, Lanyon Place, York Street and Portrush Train Station. Check out our video to find out more.
