Planned Works

Seahill Train Station is located on the Belfast to Bangor railway line, and we will be undertaking essential maintenance works at Seahill Station to ensure the platforms and access areas remain safe and in good condition.

This project is essential to maintaining the safe and reliable operation of the station.

These works will be carried out by GRAHAM on our behalf, with the main period of works taking place during December 2026.

The project will include:

  • Strengthening of the platform 
  • Upgrades to the access ramp
  • Retaining wall reinforcement works

Area of Works

Compound Site Establishment

A temporary contractor compound is required adjacent to the Walled Garden, Helen’s Bay, BT19 1UB. This will be used for storage of project materials and equipment. 

Establishment of this compound will commence during October 2026, with work completed during daytime hours. The compound site will be used until the completion of the project in January 2027.

Timeline of Works

Prior to this, preliminary investigation works will be required. These will involve one nightshift commencing at 11.30pm on Saturday 12 September 2026 and concluding by 7.00am on Sunday 13 September. There will be increased activity at the station during this time. Further preparatory works will be undertaken in October.

Detailed timeline of the work is set out below:

  • Investigation work at the station overnight on Saturday 12 September 2026 concluding on the morning of Sunday 13 September.
  • Compound site construction will begin in October 2026.
  • Partial demolition works and preparatory works begin at the station platform in October 2026
  • Road closure impacting three properties on Old Seahill Road scheduled dates in November/ December 2026.
  • Initial night working ahead of the main works will begin 1 December – 24 December 2026.
  • Translink intend to utilise a Christmas line closure to complete the proposed works as efficiently as possible and minimise overall impact on local residents. The line closure will run from after the last train on Thursday 24 December 2026 and will re-open before the first train on Monday 4 January 2027, no trains will run on the Bangor line during this period. 
  • All works at the station will be complete by 4 January 2027 at which point the station and line will re-open, and the compound site will be demobilised.

Mitigation Measures

GRAHAM will be undertaking the work on behalf of Translink. As experienced contractors GRAHAM will ensure mitigation measures will be in place throughout the project to minimise where possible impact on local residents and ensure work is taken forward in a sensitive manner.

Public Event

A public information event will be hosted in September to provide an opportunity to speak to members of the project team.

  • When: 4pm-7pm on Wednesday 16 September 2026
