We are advising railway neighbours in the Lurgan area of forthcoming essential works to be carried out on the line between William Street and Antrim Road level crossings in the town, including Lake Street level crossing.
These works form part of our ongoing investment in the railway and will help support reliable rail services through Lurgan and across the wider network for the benefit of passengers and local communities.
Taking place between Sunday 23 August and Thursday 10 September, the works will progress along the railway as the work moves between locations. The works will mainly be carried out during night shifts, with the planned locations and dates outlined below. Where works are taking place in the vicinity of a level crossing, the crossing will require closure to road traffic overnight:
- 23/24/29/30 August – work at Bells Row level crossing
- 25 August and 2/3 September – work at Lake Street level crossing
- 26/31 August and 1 September – work at William Street level crossing
No level crossing closures will be in place on Thursday 27 August.
The works will continue along the railway overnight from Friday 4 September through to Thursday 10 September. No further level crossing road closures are currently planned during this period.
Road closures at the level crossings will be in place overnight from approximately 11pm until 6am. The relevant level crossing will be closed to traffic during these periods, with traffic management and diversion routes in place and signposted locally.
A temporary extended road closure will be in place at Bells Row level crossing from 11pm on Saturday 29 August until 6am on Monday 31 August. There will be no pedestrian access at this crossing during this period.
There will be no impact on train services as a result of these works. Traffic diversions will be in place and will be signposted. Pedestrian access across the level crossings will be maintained wherever possible, but there may be some occasions when access will be temporarily closed.
Every effort will be made to minimise noise and disruption.
