Translink is leading the transformation of public transport to create a better connected, healthier, and greener Northern Ireland. An effective and successful public transport network is vital for the economic, social, and environmental well-being of our society.

We are undertaking a programme of essential engineering works at Coleraine Train Station, with these being carried out by Cleary Contracting Ltd. on behalf of Translink.

The Coleraine Station Canopy Roofing Project involves essential repairs to the existing station canopies to ensure that these continue to meet high safety standards.

During the course of the works, station users and railway neighbours may notice increased activity in the area.

Scaffolding will be erected at certain locations for the duration of the project.

Key details

  • Start Date: September 2026; it is anticipated that the project team will begin to mobilise from late August 2026.
  • Duration: Approximately 40 weeks; completing spring 2027
  • Access: Local access will be maintained throughout the project. Station access will be maintained at all times.
  • Working Hours: Primarily daytime, with some essential night-time work required

Every effort will be made to minimise disruption, including scheduling noisier tasks during daytime hours and using noise-mitigation methods.

Please be assured that there will be no impact on train services as a result of this work and access to the station platforms will be maintained throughout the project.

If you have any concerns about the works, we encourage you to get in touch with our project team at 07513726952,  quoting “Coleraine” in your message.

Cleary Contracting Ltd, our experienced contractors, will be working closely with us to ensure the impact on the local area is kept to a minimum.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you in advance for your patience and support as we work to enhance your local rail network.
