Improvements and Projects

JORDANSTOWN FOOTBRIDGE

Translink is planning to enhance existing passenger facilities at Jordanstown Train Station with the installation of a new pedestrian footbridge.

This will improve connectivity between the two platforms at this busy commuter station, particularly when the level crossing barriers are down, enhancing overall safety and convenience for passengers using this important rail corridor.

We will be seeking planning approval from Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, and would anticipate delivering the footbridge during 2025, subject to approvals.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council will undertake statutory notification of nearby residents once a planning application is submitted by Translink.

Some initial site investigation works was undertaken by Translink during late 2023, which involved some localised vegetation clearance to the rear of each platform.

Outline Project Timeline

  • November - December 2023: Site Investigation works completed
  • Spring 2024: Submission of planning application to Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council
  • Mid-2025 (subject to statutory approvals):  Commence construction works
