Lisburn Area Renewals (LAR)

The Lisburn Area Renewal (LAR) project is a major track renewal project spanning from Lambeg Train Station (2.5km north of Lisburn Train Station) to Lissue level crossing (3.5km south west of Lisburn Train Station).

The various elements of this project will ensure that high safety standards and operational performance are maintained, in turn helping to increase the reliability of the service and reduce future maintenance.

Dhu Varren and University Platform

Translink is currently in the process of introducing an additional 21 new Class 4000 carriages to the NI Railways network to complement our existing fleet and to enable the conversion of a number of current three carriage trains into six carriage trains.

York Street Station Redevelopment

Lurgan to Portadown Cable Renewal

This essential engineering project will see the upgrading of existing infrastructure between Portadown and Lurgan Train Stations.

Whitehead Level Crossing

The proposal is for the improvement of the pedestrian level crossing and access ramp situated at the north end of Whitehead Station. The existing crossing provides pedestrian access between Chester Avenue and Victoria Avenue.

Derriaghy Station Improvements

Translink intends to extend both platforms at Derriaghy to allow six carriage sets to call at the station.

Moira Park and Ride

Plans are in progress to provide an enhanced, 400+ space Park and Ride facility close to Moira Train Station, significantly enhancing existing facilities in the area.

Carnalea Platform Wall Project

The Carnalea Platform Wall renewal project focuses on works at a bridge, which is located on the Bangor to Belfast Line and to the east of Carnalea Railway Station.
