Get the right one for your journey
yLink is a Translink smartcard which entitles the card holder to special discounted fares on Translink services within Northern Ireland and cross border. Translink special services are excluded. No further discount is available on promotional fares.
yLink cards cannot be loaded with journeys or periods of travel. Instead a yLink card is used to obtain reduced bus and train fares. Without a valid working card customers cannot obtain yLink discounted fares.
yLink cards are available for all young people between the ages of 16-23 years (until their 24th birthday) and are valid from the date of their 16th birthday until the end of the calendar month in which their 24th birthday falls.
Young people can apply for a yLink card at any age between 16-23 years, but no earlier than 4 weeks before their 16th birthday and no later than 2 months before their 24th birthday.
yLink card holders do not need to re-apply for a new card annually. Once issued yLink cards remain valid until the end of the calendar month in which the customer’s 24th birthday falls.
yLink cards are photo-personalised and are therefore NOT transferable and become invalid if used by another person. Fraud or abuse of a yLink card may result in its withdrawal and / or prosecution of the offender.
yLink cards and corresponding tickets must be retained by the passenger until the journey is complete and must be presented if requested by authorised Translink personnel.
yLink cards are not an official form of identification or proof of age.
yLink cards are subject to Translink’s operating terms and conditions.
yLink cards remain the property of Translink. If lost cards are found they should be returned to Translink SmartPass Office, First Floor, 22 Great Victoria Street, Belfast, BT2 7LX.
If your yLink card is damaged, lost or stolen the appropriate adult full fare will be charged, and is non-refundable. You can apply for a replacement card at www.ylinktranslink.co.uk or at a main Translink bus or train station. A replacement card costs £6*.
If your yLink card is faulty and the ticket machine is unable to read the information stored on the card the appropriate full fare will be charged. Translink will test the
yLink card and if it is found to be faulty Translink will replace the card free of charge and send a new card to the customer within 7-10 working days. You can apply for a replacement card at www.ylinktranslink.co.uk or at a main Translink bus or train station. A refund of the difference between the adult fare paid and yLink fare will be given. To apply for a refund customers should retain and submit any adult fare tickets purchased.
