Our Charity Partner
Cancer Focus NI
We have joint forces with our charity partner Cancer Focus NI for our ‘Travel to a Healthier Life’ campaign to encourage staff and passengers to put their best feet forward and adopt a healthier lifestyle to help lower the risk of cancer.
Why we need your help…
- 1 in 2 local people will develop cancer in their lifetime. 35 people are diagnosed in NI each day
- Every year in Northern Ireland around 13,000 local people get the news that they have cancer. Thankfully two thirds survive but, sadly, we still lose more than 4,000 loved ones each year.
- The good news is that up to 50% of cancers can be prevented if you maintain a healthy lifestyle, have regular checks, use screening services and vaccination programmes.
Cancer Focus NI, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, is offering heal screening services in our stations to help staff and passengers make changes towards a healthier lifestyle. Follow Translink on Twitter and Follow Translink on Facebook for dates and times.
Huge thanks to all our staff and customers who have raised an amazing £30k in the first year of our three year charity partnership with Cancer Focus NI – and we’re aiming to top that fantastic total in year two.
All the money you raise will fund Cancer Focus NI’s Keeping Well vans. The vans are a vital service bringing free health checks, cancer awareness and healthy lifestyle information directly to people in workplaces and communities across Northern Ireland
