Ulster in Bloom

The Translink Ulster in Bloom 2019 Competition is calling for entries in the Community Champion Award category supported by Ulsterbus Tours.‚Äč

The competition encourages cities, towns and villages right across Northern Ireland to look their best, boosting civic pride through beautiful plant and floral displays.

We are asking elected members and local council employees involved in Ulster in Bloom to nominate someone from within the areas entered into the competition:

  • Is there someone in your local community who has really embraced ‘Ulster in Bloom’?

  • Someone whose longstanding ‘Ulster in Bloom’ contribution has made a lasting and positive difference to your local area?

  • A gardening enthusiast with a passion and dedication to create and maintain attractive plant and floral displays while supporting the local environment?

  • Someone who stands out and goes that extra mile to make your area blossom?

If you know someone who fits this description – we want to hear from you! Simply tell us in no more than 250 words why your nominee should be the 'Translink Ulster in Bloom 2019 Community Champion'. You can support your written entry with up to 3 photographs.

Terms & Conditions

  • Nominations for the Community Champion title should be made by a local council employee or elected member.

  • Each council may submit up to 3 nominations for their council area.

  • Nominations should be for an individual from a local community (group) who is also an Ulster in Bloom 2019 competition participant.

  • Elected members and council employees ineligible to be entered as nominations for this competition.

  • 250 word entry must clearly outline reasons why the nominee should be awarded the Community Champion title based on their individual contribution to Ulster in Bloom.

  • Entries over 250 word limit will be disqualified.

  • Supporting photographs should be emailed in .jpg format and must not exceed 10 MB in size.

  • Deadline for award entries is Friday 16th August 2019.

  • Entries will be judged by Ulster in Bloom Competition organisers - Translink and Northern Ireland Local Government Association.

  • Judges’ decision is final.

  • Winner will be announced during the Translink Ulster in Bloom Winners’ Announcement Ceremony in September 2019.

  • Prize winner is required to organise suitable travel insurance for holiday.

  • Prize winner is required to attend both the Winners’ Announcement in September 2019, Prize Presentation event in March 2020 and participate in publicity opportunities generated by Translink.

  • We will be collecting and storing your competition entry information for the purpose of this competition only.

  • Additionally, we will be taking photography and video footage of the Community Champion winner.
