Chief Executive Chris Conway's weekly update to employees
Monday 01 June 2020
As we move into a new month and our continued small steps to recovery, our focus for public transport will be helping to support all of us as we move forward. For more people this week, they begin to return to their workplaces, and we are all navigating our way through new changes to the restrictions, with increased opportunities to meet people outdoors and more retail outlets opening.
We have continued throughout, to provide essential services for those needing to travel with us and as we all adapt to the new normal, our message will ensure that we keep asking people to think before they travel and to ensure that only those who really need our services travel with us.
Last week we highlighted our focus on safety for both employees and passengers. In addition to the many new measures put in place to support people during this pandemic, we want to ensure that we all remain committed to our key safety messages and that we get everyone Safe Home Every Day.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility, including our passengers, and we will continue our focus this week on our Help Us Help you campaign to support people to help themselves and others when travelling. This includes being kind and respectful to our employees and other passengers, we really are all in this together.
Our employees continue to show the true Translink Spirit during this time. Well done to Ballymena Ulsterbus and NIR who joined together to collect food hampers for residents and staff at Bradfield Nursing Home to say thank you to fellow key workers.
MSC Operations Staff also provided support last week to some of our ‘hidden’ health service heroes at the N.I. Hospice in Belfast and Beech Hall Wellbeing and Treatment Centre in Belfast. To help with their PPE needs our employees were able to donate a large quantity of hand sanitiser, along with some sweet treats from a local home bakery.
Thank you to all our Translink heroes for going above and beyond to show their support for others.
You can see more stories like this on our Translink Spirit app. I’m delighted to see so many people using the app and we hope that you use this to share your own Spirit stories from your local stations and depots.
Thank you all and stay safe.
