New Group Chief Executive Announced

John Trethowan, Chairman of the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company, today announced that Chris Conway has been appointed as Translink's new Group Chief Executive.

Making the announcement, Mr. Trethowan said, "We are delighted with this appointment which follows a recruitment competition that attracted significant interest and a very high calibre field. In Chris Conway we are confident that we have found an experienced and skilled individual. He is the right person to lead Translink, one of Northern Ireland's most high profile businesses which provides an essential service to so many".

"As a Board we look forward to working with Chris, his Executive team and all the staff in Translink to continue the track record of success, growth and investment the group has delivered over these past years."

Chris, a native of Northern Ireland, is currently Managing Director of Tata Steel's sales and distribution business in Ireland; previously he was Vice President of operations in Europe for Nortel and Managing Director of Nortel (NI) Ltd. Chris is Chairman of Northern Ireland Co-operation Overseas and a member of the Board of Trustees of Young Enterprise; he is also a member of the Institute of Directors and is a chartered company director.

Chris will take up the post on 7th September. I will continue as Group Chief Executive until then and leave the organization on 18th September to allow for a short handover period.
