Compliments on the up and Balmoral Show

"We are encouraging passengers travelling to Balmoral Show to avoid peak travel times and make their journeys after 09:30 am and after evening rush hour (4-6 pm)"
3rd May 2013

Dear Colleagues,

Each year we complete a detailed review of complaints we receive about our services.  This gives us very valuable information about service quality and emerging issues, so we investigate each closely to learn what we can.  But we also receive compliments, in fact the number we receive has been rising over the past years and in particular it is good to see the numbers of Metro customers contacting us to praise drivers.  This is very heartening given the difficulties we have had at times keeping services running in Belfast.  Praise and appreciation like this is worth spreading as far as we can, as it is something to be proud of.

This week, we announced travel arrangements for passengers intending to travel to the 145th Balmoral Show.  As you may be aware, the show has changed location to Balmoral Park, situated at the Maze, close to Lisburn.  As usual, large numbers are expected to visit the show on May 15 – 17. We are encouraging passengers travelling to Balmoral Show to avoid peak travel times and make their journeys after 9.30am and after evening rush hour (4-6pm).

Between 8.30am and 9pm, a free shuttle bus service will run from Lisburn Train Station to the new show grounds. The estimated outward journey time is around 20-30 minutes so we are advising passengers to leave at least one hour transfer time to return from the show back to Lisburn for onward train connections – especially anyone using cross-border or North West services. In addition, selected Londonderry line morning train services will run through to Lisburn and we will operate special coach day tours available to purchase online, offering return journey to Balmoral Park and show admission for just £26. These services will depart Derry~Londonderry, Enniskillen, Omagh, Strabane, Dungannon, Cookstown and Magherafelt.

Two final things; this Saturday, May 4th, see the return of the popular Love Metro Saturdays £2 day ticket (£1 child) which offers unlimited Saturday journeys across all Metro services after 9.30am throughout May and June … and, finally I would like to extend my congratulations to the employees who participated in the recent beach clean at Ballykelly, where they collected 15 bags of rubbish.  Translink has ‘adopted’ this beach and committed to carry out litter picks four times per year.  Anyone from across the company can take part and I would encourage you all to consider participating in the next clean up later in the summer.
