Eco Driving and Easter Offers

"Great success across the business in reducing our carbon footprint"
28th March 2013

Dear Colleagues,

This week we launched Eco Driving across our bus operations. This uses new technology on our bus fleet and the skill of our drivers to reduce our CO2 emissions and fuel costs. Other important benefits will be the less stressful driving style, reductions in vehicle wear and tear and accidents and improved customer care with journeys often being much smoother and more comfortable. We have had great success across the business in reducing our carbon footprint to date; this is another important development.

With the Easter holidays just around the corner we have a range of travel offers in place making it more affordable and fun for our passengers to get out and about and see many of the attractions across Northern Ireland over the Easter break.

The £20 Family and Friends Ticket will provide one day unlimited travel for up to two adults and four children on bus or rail services, while the £9 Metro Family Day Ticket provides unlimited travel across Metro services. The Bus Rambler ticket (£9) will also be available allowing unlimited day travel after 9.15am on Ulsterbus, Goldline and Metro services. There will also be a 1/3 off day returns after 9.30am on NI Railways and selected Goldline services and unlimited travel throughout Northern Ireland from just £15 with iLink. Great savings can also be made with Enterprise day return tickets to Dublin from just £10 and Goldline return coach tickets to Dublin from just £8.50.

On Easter Monday we will be operating special family trains to Portrush departing from Great Victoria Street at 9.10am and 10.10am. These special family friendly trains will offer balloon modelling, face painting and lots more entertainment. With record high fuel prices, Translink is encouraging families to consider bus and train as a cost effective means of travelling across Northern Ireland this Easter with the special fares running from Saturday 23rd March – 7th April 2013.

Easter holiday timetables will be in operation across the network and I would ask for your help and support in communicating the holiday services to our passengers and beyond. I wish every one of you a relaxing and happy Easter break, and I would like to pass on a special word of thanks to all those working over the holiday period.
