ISO 9001 for Procurement Department; excellence and value for money

"last year over a million more customers chose to travel with us"
15th March 2013

Dear Colleagues,

Congratulations to the Translink Purchasing Department who have just been accredited with ISO 9001. This is recognition of the professionalism and expertise of this key function in Translink which we rely on to keep the business running smoothly and efficiently. As well as demonstrating continuous improvement, this will also be integral to the next Centre of Procurement Excellence ('CoPE') accreditation from Government later in 2013. Well done to all involved and thank you for the on-going support and assistance.

Meanwhile, we released the Passenger's Charter Monitoring Results today and it was a good set of results, with Metro, Ulsterbus and N I Railways all beating 'on time' targets. The research shows that our passengers continue to rate services very highly; customer satisfaction levels for NI Railways and Ulsterbus achieved the highest ratings ever for the 2012 autumn period. Metro passengers expressed some frustration at the disruption in the city centre over the past year; the improved bus priority will go a long way to address this with faster journeys.

Our customers clearly like the new high quality Goldline coaches, free Wi-Fi, better information such as our mobile website and the real time 'Journey Check' for train travel along with the on-going high profile promotions. We have also been working very hard to improve cleanliness and our customers are recognising this. This is why more people are choosing the bus or train – last year over a million more customers chose to travel with us.

Finally, Translink and Bus Éireann have announced a new 'X1' brand name for the cross-border coach service between Belfast and Dublin. The name change will deliver a more recognisable brand reflecting the joined-up service delivery along with developments including timetable and vehicle enhancements. 'X1' provides an hourly coach service between 5am and 9pm with early bird departures also available at 11pm, 1am and 3am. Passengers will be able to avail of free on-board Wi-Fi, excellent luggage space and leather seats with extra leg room.
