yLink - innovation and value

"the great value travel choice"
17 August 2012

Dear Colleagues,

This week we kicked off promotional activity for our new youth card – yLink. This smartcard is available to all young people between 16-23 years of age and gives ‘one third off’ travel on bus and rail services in Northern Ireland and up to 50% off cross border Enterprise fares.

Young people represent a very big proportion of our passengers so we want to encourage them to keep coming back to the bus and train as the best travel choice and at £8 this is great value.

No doubt you may have seen and heard reports in the media this week about free Wi-Fi on our services. The coverage was a bit early (prompted by a letter from an MLA) but we are currently in the final stages of testing Wi-Fi, to be rolled out across key Goldline routes (including coach services to Dublin) and rail services (both NI Railways and Enterprise). We hope to launch this service in the coming months and will keep you posted as more details become available.

Lastly, this week our colleagues returned from the 2012 Olympic Games in London. This has been a big transport operation for us and I must commend all our employees who were involved from the planning stages right through to successful delivery ‘on the ground’ and those who have risen to the challenge of maintaining services here in NI.

Catherine Mason,

Group Chief Executive
