Consultation launched on Ulsterbus Foyle City Services

22nd May 2017

Translink is launching a public consultation from Monday 22nd May on changes to Ulsterbus Foyle City Services, as part of a drive to provide high quality local bus services. The revisions are designed to meet the changing needs of the City, to build on its vibrancy and success.

Alan Young, Ulsterbus Service Delivery Manager in Derry~Londonderry said: “We want to offer an attractive modern bus service that keeps the city on the move and supports the growth and prosperity of the area.

“We are investing heavily in our city bus network and have a fleet of new buses with a stylish new look and new brand name – Foyle Metro -  being introduced in the autumn.

“We have taken a fresh look at the city network and redesigned services to penetrate new areas in line with city changes, offering better connections to shops, local amenities, Altnagelvin Hospital as well as better integration with local rail services and the new hourly timetable coming this summer.
He continued: “We want to grow passenger numbers and build on our success and to do this we want as many people as possible to engage in the consultation to share their views and help us plan and shape the routes in order to be ‘Your First Choice for Travel’.

“The route maps and consultation surveys are available online at or leaflets and maps can be picked up at Foyle Street Bus Station. There will also be a series of public roadshows across the city during the month of June”*. The consultation will close Friday 30th June”, he concluded.

The changes to Foyle City Services, which are due to be implemented in September 2017, are part of a number of enhancements and investment in the North West, demonstrating our commitment to providing high quality transport services and facilities in the region.
