Translink Spirit In Action

BELFAST GRAND CENTRAL STATION

The construction of the new state-of-the art, Belfast Grand Central Station at Weavers Cross has progressed with main works commencing last year on the impressive new facility.

A transport led regeneration project, it is a hugely important NI Executive Flagship project, being delivered by Translink and is set to be the largest integrated transport facility on the island of Ireland.  Providing a step change in the provision of public transport, it is set to improve connectivity for everyone in Northern Ireland and beyond, transforming how people travel, encouraging more active travel, tackling the climate emergency and creating a greener and cleaner city and region for everyone.

Located at the heart of a new city neighbourhood, ‘Weavers Cross’, it will act as a catalyst for urban regeneration and as a key driver of economic growth and prosperity for Belfast and Northern Ireland.

There is an ongoing programme of engagement in partnership with our contractors with local political leaders, community organisations, schools and businesses in the Sandy Row and Grosvenor Road areas which has included successful volunteering days at local primary schools as well as supporting local construction engineering apprentices from the area. Plans are also underway to deliver a Public Arts and Heritage Strategy to reflect the vibrant history of the local areas. It is expected that the Hub will be completed during 2025.

This important project is also delivering a range of social value benefits including the creation of over 500 jobs and supporting a variety of community and training initiatives maximising social and economic benefits for communities across Belfast
