Translink is committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place steps to safeguard the integrity of data and protection of personal information.
Translink adheres to all aspects of PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry) compliance standards for data security. For all online and mobile app payment processing, Translink partner with both Global Payments and NMI. Global Payments and NMI are fully PCI compliant to the highest level of PCI (Level 1 certification).
Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) are network security and business practice guidelines adopted by the card schemes such as Visa and MasterCard, to establish a security standard to protect customer’s payment card information. These standards are regulated by the PCI Council. It’s a mandatory requirement for all merchants such as Translink to comply with.
During the credit and debit card payment process via our website you will be redirected over a secure connection to Global Payments or NMI where you can securely enter your card details. This payment page will be securely integrated with the Translink website and will match the look and feel of the Translink website. Once the purchase is completed you will be able to return to the main Translink website. This does not apply to purchases made via our mobile app as the secure connection to Global Payments or NMI is integrated within the app.
Global Payments and NMI will share with us a booking reference number which we will use in processing your transaction, but your payment card details will be processed by Global Payments and NMI only. More information is available in Global Payment’s Privacy Statement and NMI’s Privacy Statement.
Translink use 3D Secure during the credit and debit card payment process. 3D Secure is a protocol used as an added layer of security/fraud prevention for online credit and debit card transactions. This is achieved by adding another payer authentication step for online payments; a password or passcode. This additional security was initiated by Visa and Mastercard and it’s branded “Verified by Visa” and “MasterCard® SecureCode™” respectively.
If you haven’t purchased a product or service online using 3D Secure before on any website, you will be redirected to your issuing credit or debit card’s bank secure website where you must verify some personal details and select a password. This is integrated into our payment page. You must never disclose this password to anyone – this is how you guarantee your card is secure. Do not write your password down anywhere.
We want our customers to purchase tickets and services on our website confidentially and securely. By adding this extra step to the purchasing process, you can now be satisfied that your purchases are made by you and you alone.
The 3D Secure authentication process is smoothly integrated into our online credit and debit payment process and will usually only add a few seconds to the normal transaction time. We believe this is a small price to pay for increased protection for our customers.
If you have purchased a product or service online using 3D Secure before, you will be asked to submit your chosen password during the purchasing process. You will be familiar with the process.
If you can’t remember your 3D Secure password you need to contact your bank. Translink doesn’t save your 3D Secure password on any of their computer systems; when you selected your password this was saved only on your bank’s computer system. Translink will never contact a customer to ask for your 3D Secure password and we cannot help you retrieve a forgotten 3D Secure password.

Yes but this will not be required for every transaction. You will only have to enter your 3DS password when you add a payment card.
You can now use your PayPal account to pay online for tickets via our website and mobile app. This will avoid the hassle of entering card details, security code and 3D Secure. Just follow the “Pay with PayPal” option at the checkout. For purchases via our website you will be taken to a screen where you input your PayPal login details. For purchases via our mobile app you will be required to set up a billing agreement which will provide a convenient one click check out each time. Please visit www.paypal.co.uk for more information.
