  The Yorkshire Dales
  Harrogate and the
Historic City of York

Yorkshire

Nidd Hall is described as a ‘baronial mansion’ set in 45 acres of Victorian gardens. In its hayday it hosted endless parties, one of which saw the first meeting between Edward VIII and a certain Mrs Wallis Simpson. Today it is an historic hotel boasting a 20m swimming pool, a leisure complex, a cabaret room, bar, coffee shop, library, games rooms with snooker table and outdoor facilities such as bowling and putting greens.

Its location makes it ideal for tours of the Dales and visits to nearby towns and cities. Our tour includes visits to Knaresborough, Harrogate, the historic city of York and the rejuvenated city of Hull.

Day 1 - Monday

We leave Belfast on the early morning HSS and travel through south-west Scotland to our first stop, just over the English border in Penrith. In the afternoon we travel through Appleby and Wensleydale to Rippon and finally, our hotel in the Nidd Valley. After checking-in, dinner is served, followed by live entertainment.

Day 2 - Tuesday

After a relaxing free morning with time to discover the many on-site facilities, there is a tour to the nearby village of Knaresborough and the spa town of Harrogate. The evening again concludes with dinner and more live entertainment.

Day 3 - Wednesday

Today you are again free to choose between relaxing at the hotel or joining a day trip to York, the North’s spiritual capital for 2000 years. Visit the stunning York Minster, enjoy Stonegate and Shambles for shopping and live the history of York at the Jorvik Viking Centre, National Railway Museum and York Castle Museum.

Dinner (carvery or waiter served) and live entertainment bring the day to a close.

Day 4 - Thursday

Today we have a full day excursion to Hull. Located on the banks of the River Humber, this magnificent waterfront city boasts a relaxing atmosphere along with a vibrant mix of culture and shopping. The city’s Museum Quarter is a highlight of any visit to the City and is one of the most exciting developments of its kind. Dinner tonight is followed by a final night’s superb entertainment.

Day 5 - Friday

We leave Nidd after breakfast and travel west, back into the Dales, through Otley and Ilkley, Skipton, Settle and finally Kirkby Lonsdale, before joining the M6. We take the evening HSS from Stranraer to Belfast, arriving at the Europa Buscentre around 10.00pm.
