Winnock Hotel Breaks
The village of Drymen is just a three hour drive from Stranraer, allowing us the luxury of late morning departures and afternoon returns. It stands at the very heart of Scotland, where the “high road meets the low road”, just north of Glasgow, at the foot of Loch Lomond - the perfect base from which to explore Loch Lomond National Park, the Tossachs, Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The Winnock Hotel is steeped in history dating back to the 18th century when it was a bustling Coaching Inn and Smithy (blacksmiths). Reported sightings in the hotel include a grey lady and a young blacksmith’s apprentice.

This package incorporates a good deal of walking and guests must be of a reasonable fitness level.

Day 1 - Friday

We leave Belfast on the mid-day Stena HSS heading north through Ayrshire to our hotel for the next 3 nights. Your hosts bid you welcome as you check in. After dinner a local historian sets the background with tales of tragedy, lost love and blood-curdling horror…

Hotel:

Winnock Hotel, Drymen AA*** (3 nights)

Day 2 - Saturday

A trip to Edinburgh today, where you visit the castle and the underground vaults (not for the faint hearted!). After a little free time in the city you return to the hotel for dinner, followed by tarot demonstration in the evening - what does the future hold for you?

Day 3 - Sunday

Breakfast this morning is followed by a full day’s excursion to Glencoe, or the “Weeping Glen”, where you will learn about the massacre of the MacDonald clan by the Campbells. There will be plenty of opportunity today for picturesque photos, so don’t forget your camera!

Tonight the Highland theme continues with a 4-course set banquet followed by a traditional Ceilidh.

Day 4 - Monday

After breakfast the staff count you all to make sure there are no extra guests leaving the hotel! You arrive back at the Europa Buscentre (as if by magic) by 5.00pm.
