Waterford

Ireland’s oldest city and home of to the world-renowned crystal, Waterford is a small, friendly city with a real buzz. At its heart lies the 3 star Dooley’s Hotel, a modern, family run hotel located just a few minutes walk from the main shopping and cultural areas of the town.

County Waterford has some of the most beautiful and varied scenery in Ireland - the coastline is a series of rugged cliffs and sand-fringed bays where you’ll find many attractive seaside resorts and the Blackwater valley, with its flanking hills and numerous wooded stretches, provides some of the finest river scenery in Ireland.

Day 1 - Sunday

We leave Belfast this morning at 10.00am and travel south directly to Kildare, with a comfort stop along the way. We visit the world famous Irish National Stud, where we spend time looking at some of the most expensive bloodstock in the world, with an opportunity to explore the fascinating Japanese Gardens. We proceed to hotel for the next 3 nights in Waterford.

Day 2 - Monday

We start the day with an intriguing guided walking tour of Waterford, which finishes off at the impressive Waterford Treasures at the Granary, where you are free to explore at your leisure. The afternoon is free for you to get to know the impressive medieval city walls, cobbled streets and colourful waterfront that give Waterford its charming feel. There is music in the bar tonight.

Day 3 - Tuesday

A little further a field today, we head west via Dungarvan Bay to the bustling and picturesque walled seaport town of Youghal, regarded as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ireland. After lunch we proceed on to Midleton, home of the Jameson Experience, one of the few remaining whiskey distilleries in Ireland. We return to our hotel in time for dinner and another evening of music.

Day 4 - Wednesday

We head home today, but not without a visit to the world famous Waterford Crystal factory. We stop for lunch in Carlow town before joining the motorway that bypasses Dublin, Drogheda and Dundalk. We are expected back at the Europa Buscentre at around 6.00pm.
