Paris in the Spring

Paris is without doubt one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Everything about it is larger than life; its monuments, the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe; its churches, Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur; its museums and galleries, the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay. Paris is undoubtedly a European ‘capital of culture’.

Again this year we have three Spring tours - Easter and two May bank holiday week-ends. Walk in the footsteps of the Impressionists who flocked to Paris and the beautiful surrounding countryside during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with time to go as you please to discover your own Paris.

Tours are based at the Novotel Cergy-Portoise, in the north-eastern suburbs of Paris. Within easy reach the city, its location lets us explore a little further out, not least Giverny and Monet’s Garden, at its most beautiful in springtime. The tour includes dinner on two nights in the hotel leaving you free to try one of the many fine city centre restaurants on the third night.

Day 1 - Thursday

We leave the Europa Buscentre at 6.30am to catch the early morning HSS to Stranraer, from where we proceed directly to Hull.

Overnight::

P&O Cruiseferry (cabins with
facilities, all meals included)

Day 2 - Friday

From Zeebrugge we travel through Picardy towards the capital, stopping to the north of the city at Auvers-sur-Oise, where we visit Maison de Van Gogh for our first ‘impression’. We rejoin our coach for the final short leg of our journey, to our hotel, our base for the duration of the tour.

Hotel:

Novotel Cergy-Portoise *** (3 nights)

Day 3 - Saturday

We drive directly into the city centre this morning for a short introductory tour. In the afternoon we spend a couple of hours at the fabulous Musee d’Orsay, with the rest of the day free to explore. The coach picks you up in late afternoon and returns to the hotel by around 7.00pm. Dinner is served in the hotel.

Day 4 - Sunday

Our route this morning takes us through some of the most beautiful countryside in France. Our destination is perhaps the most celebrated garden in the country, Giverny, immortalised by Monet in his many studies of its famous Japanese Bridge, the wisteria, water-lilies and willows ‘weeping’ over water.

On our return to Paris you have the rest of the day free to explore. As well as visiting many of the city’s many attractions you will have time to try one of the many excellent local city centre restaurants. We arrive back at our hotel around 10.00pm

Day 5 - Monday

We leave the hotel after breakfast and commence our return journey, diverting through Amiens, the Somme and Arras before arriving back at Zeebrugge where we catch the overnight sailing to Hull.

Overnight::

P&O Cruiseferry (outside cabins with facilities, all meals included)

Day 6 - Tuesday

We travel from Hull to Stranraer and then on to Belfast on the Stena HSS, arriving at the Europa Buscentre around 10.00pm.
