Imagine the scene: the smell of roasting chestnuts, the taste of mince pies and hot, mulled wine and the sound of choirs and handbell ringers. Then add over 200 brightly coloured stalls, decorated with lights and attended by traders in Victorian costume, selling every conceivable Christmas gift. This is Lincoln at the beginning of December - Lincoln Christmas Market.
Day 1 - Friday
We leave on the early morning HSS and travel south from Stranraer to our hotel just outside Leicester, arriving in time for dinner.

2 - Saturday
After breakfast we travel through Nottinghamshire - Robin Hood country - to Lincoln, where we spend the day walking among the fabulous stalls and enjoying the marvellous festive atmosphere of days gone by. We return to our hotel in time to freshen up before dinner.

3 - Sunday
A second day in Lincoln and another chance to sample the festive atmosphere in this historic city.

4 - Monday
We commence our return journey after breakfast and travel north to catch the evening HSS to Belfast, arriving at the Europa Buscentre around 10.00pm.
