Based at the Shannon Oaks Hotel & Country Club in Portumna, this tour includes visits to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren Smoke House, Galway City, Burren Visitors Centre, the Burren Bird of Prey Centre and a stop at Clonmacnois on the outward journey.

Day 1 - Sunday

We leave Belfast at 10.00am and drive south to Clonmacnoise, Ireland’s most famous early Christian monastic settlement. It was built some 1,500 years ago at a point where the country’s main east-west roadway (the “Eiscir Riada”) intersected the north-south flowing Shannon River - the crossroads of Ireland. We travel the short distance to our hotel in Portumna, the historic crossing point between the counties of Galway & Tipperary.

Day 2 - Monday

Today we travel to the majestic Cliffs of Moher, around the coast via Black Head for a visit to the Burren Smoke House at Lisdoonvarna to see and taste the traditional Irish Smoked Salmon.

Day 3 - Tuesday

We spend the full day today in Galway City, the “City of the Tribes”.

Day 4 - Wednesday

It’s into the Burren today, with visits to the excellent visitors’ centre at Kilfenora and Poulnabrone Dolmen. We proceed to the famous Aillwee Caves before stopping at the Burren Birds of Prey centre. Eagles, buzzards, owls and falcons fly in a magnificent display of grace and power. The open air grass arena at the base of the Ailwee hills provides an opportunity to interact with the birds in their natural environment. The close proximity allows for extraordinary photo opportunities of the birds in flight.

Day 5 - Thursday

We leave Co. Galway this morning and return north to Belfast, arriving back at the Europa Buscentre around 6.00pm.
