The Hidden Cotswolds

The Cotswolds is instantly recognisable as the England so often depicted on the traditional biscuit tin and Christmas card - that area of gently rolling hills, pretty villages and yellow ‘Cotswold Stone’ cottages that lies to the south of Birmingham, in a triangle bounded by the M4, M5 and M40.

This four day long weekend Short Break, based in the 4 star Hilton Bromsgrove, seeks out some of the less well known corners, with the invaluable help of local guides who stay with us throughout Saturday and Sunday, in our quest for the ‘Hidden Cotswolds’.

Day 1 - Friday

We leave Belfast early and travel south to catch the mid-morning HSS from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead. Our journey then takes us through North Wales to Cheshire and on by motorway to our hotel, to the south of Birmingham, on the edge of the Cotswolds.

Hilton Bromsgrove ****
(3 nights)

Day 2/3 - Saturday/Sunday

We spend the week-end exploring the Cotswolds with a local guide, stopping more often in small towns and villages that other tours pass by. The hotel’s fine restaurant and excellent leisure facilities help make this a memorable long week-end.

Day 4 - Monday

We retrace our outward journey back to Holyhead and take the Stena Superferry to Dublin Port. We use the new tunnel to escape the worst of Dublin’s traffic and arrive back in Belfast around 7.30pm.
