Carlow

Carlow is a county of ancient beauty and mystical charm. To the south and south east, the dramatic Blackstairs Mountains frame the county, at the heart of which is Carlow town, a historic and bustling centre with great shopping. Carlow’s scenery is matched by a wealth of picturesque riverside towns and villages.

The Seven Oaks Hotel, which is situated just a few minutes from Carlow town centre, has enjoyed a long reputation as one of the foremost hotels in Leinster. You will enjoy a warm welcome from friendly staff and the entertainment provided during your stay.

Day 1 - Sunday

We leave the Europa Buscentre at 10.00am and proceed south, stopping in Dublin for a few hours in the afternoon. We arrive at our hotel in Carlow in plenty of time for dinner.

Hotel:

Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow *** (4 nights)

Day 2 - Monday

This morning we have a short walking tour of the town. The rest of the day is yours free to explore this bustling market centre. You could visit the courthouse on Carlow Street (modelled on the Parthenon in Athens) or the Carlow Brewing Company, which produces beers based on traditional Celtic beer styles. There is traditional Irish music in the bar tonight after dinner.

Day 3 - Tuesday

A tour of Ireland’s ‘South Riding’ area today, taking us to the Galtee Mountains. We travel via Kilkenny, Clonmel, Cahir through the Glen of Aherlow and on to Cashel. Tonight’s entertainment features ballroom dancing to a live band.

Day 4 - Wednesday

Today we explore the “Garden County”, Wicklow, travelling through Enniskerry, Roundwood and Glendalough. We spend a little time in Wicklow town and its neighbour Arklow, before returning to the hotel. Dinner is again followed by ballroom dancing to a live band.

Day 5 - Thursday

We head home today, but not without paying a visit to Ireland’s largest outlet shopping centre, Kildare Village. We expect to arrive back at the Europa Buscentre at around 6.00pm.
