Littlecote House Hotel, a stunning 16th century mansion set in exquisite manicured lawns, offers a great opportunity for a relaxing break, with more than a hint of romance. It was here in 1535 that Henry VIII wooed Jane Seymour - the lovers’ tryst is recalled in the Great Hall by a fine decorative Cupid’s head, just part of a rich narrative that spans the centuries. From the lovingly preserved Roman mosaic to the Dutch parlour, Littlecote is a warren of antiquity.

Day 1 - Sunday

We leave Belfast to catch the early morning HSS to Stranraer, from where we drive south to our overnight hotel in the Midlands.

Village Hotel, Walsall **** (1 night)

Day 2 - Monday

After breakfast we continue south, entering the Cotswolds at Evesham, stopping in Cheltenham, England’s most complete Regency town, for a few hours. We arrive at Littlecote House Hotel in mid-afternoon, giving you plenty of time to settle into your new surroundings for the next 4 nights. Live entertainment is provided tonight after dinner.

Day 3 - Tuesday

oday we proceed west into Somerset where we spend the day in historic city of Bath. Designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Bath presents some of the finest architectural sights in Europe, such as the Royal Crescent, the Circus and Pulteney Bridge alongside a diverse collection of museums and attractions. The compact city centre offers irresistible shopping and there are plenty of activities to enjoy in the surrounding area.

Day 4 - Wednesday

After a relaxing free morning there is a trip to nearby Swindon. Take time to wander through the town’s quiet courtyards and alleyways, or enjoy a vibrant mix of traditional shops and pubs alongside modern outlets and stylish cafes and bars. Dinner in the hotel tonight is again followed by live entertainment.

Day 5 - Thursday

Our destination today is Oxford, the “City of the Dreaming Spires”. You have a full day free to explore and absorb the atmosphere. Try the view over the spires from Carfax Tower, shop in the historic covered market or just watch the punts on the River Thames.

Day 6 - Friday

Sadly we have to leave our stately home today. We travel the short distance north via the City of Gloucester, back to our overnight hotel in Walsall.

Hotel:

Village Hotel, Walsall **** (1 night)

Day 7 - Saturday

A short drive along the North Wales coast takes us to Holyhead, where we catch the early afternoon Stena Superferry to Dublin. We arrive back in Belfast around 7.30pm.
