Just 7 miles north of Pitlochry stands Blair Castle, the instantly recognisable white building which is home to the Duke of Altoll and Europe’s only remaining private army. In the nearby village of Blair Atholl we find a former hunting lodge by the river, now the Bridge of Tilt Hotel - it may be small but it is big on hospitality! You can be sure of a warm Highland welcome from the manager and staff, with friendly service, comfortable en-suite accommodation and great food - the perfect base for a Short Break in the Highlands, at any time of the year.

We have a short series of mid-week, 5-day breaks in October, April, May and June, Turkey and Tinsel in November/December and Easter Week and May Bank Holiday Week-End specials.

Day 1 Monday

We leave the Europa Buscentre at 6.30am and catch the early morning sailing to Stranraer, from where we drive north, past Glasgow and Stirling and into the Highlands. We check into our hotel in the village of Blair Atholl in time to relax before dinner.

Hotel:

Day 2 - Tuesday

Blair Castle is just a short stroll away and after breakfast we make our way up the drive to spend the morning there, looking through the 30 rooms which trace life in the Scottish Highland’s over the centuries - the castle dates back to 1269.

Afterwards we drive to nearby Pitlochry where we spend the afternoon. We visit Scotland’s smallest distillery, Edradour, with the rest of the afternoon free to explore. Then its back to the hotel in time for dinner and some entertainment in the bar.

Day 3 - Wednesday

Our first call this morning is at Queens’s View at Loch Tummel for a truly royal view over the loch.

We continue along the shore, south to Aberfeldy and Crieff and on to the “fair city of Perth” where we spend the afternoon. We return to the hotel in time for dinner.

Wednesday’s itinerary is excluded from 5-day May Bank Holiday tour

Day 4 - Thursday

We turn east today and travel thorough Glenshee to Braemar, passing Balmoral Castle and calling briefly at Crathie Church. Back in the hotel tonight our final dinner is followed by some Highland entertainment.

Day 5 Friday

We leave the Vale of Atholl after breakfast and return to Stranraer, where we catch the evening boat back to Belfast, arriving at the Europa Buscentre around 10.00pm.
