Armagh, the oldest city in Ireland, was chosen by St. Patrick as a centre for his ‘new religion’ in 445AD - by then the area had been inhabited for some 5,000 years. As the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland, it now boasts two imposing Cathedrals and a host of cultural and historical attractions.
Its location half-way between Belfast and Enniskillen makes it the ideal location from which to explore that band of Mid-Ulster stretching between Lough Erne and Lough Neagh. The new City Hotel in Armagh is the perfect base for such a tour.
