Hook Lighthouse

Day 1 - Sunday

The tour leaves Belfast at 9.00am and travels south, stopping around mid-day at Powerscourt where a light lunch is ordered. After a leisurely stroll around the gardens we continue through the well named “garden county”, calling at Glendalough, before arriving at our first hotel.

Day 2 - Monday

Our first call today is just outside the town at Johnstown Castle, which incorporates a Norman Tower built in the 13th century. Today it is the home of the Irish Agricultural Museum.

We continue south as far as Hook Head to see the famous lighthouse, before returning to spend the evening back in Wexford.

Day 3 - Tuesday

We leave the Slaney Valley this morning and travel inland to New Ross where we visit the Dunbrody, a full sized replica emigrant ship. Here we follow in the footsteps of a group of Famine Emigrants bound for New York. Our next stop is Jerpoint Abbey and then Bennettsbridge (home of Nicholas Mosse Pottery) before arriving in Kilkenny.

Day 4 - Wednesday

Very little travelling today. We have a guided walking tour of Kilkenny this morning with the rest of the day free. The castle and the craft centre are both well worth a visit.

Day 5 - Thursday

Following a leisurely morning we commence our return journey. We meander through Carlow and Athy before joining the new motorway system near Kilcullen, at the Curragh, for the last leg of our journey back to Belfast. We arrive at the Travel Centre at 6.00pm.
