York

york

York has been the North’s spiritual capital for over 2000 years. Within the city walls there is an abundance of English history, alive with evidence of Roman, Viking, Saxon and Norman occupation. Many areas such as the Shambles are largely unchanged since the Middle Ages. The Jorvik Centre and the infamous Ghost Walks are essential elements of any school trip, the National Railway Museum and Eden Camp add enormous variety to any itinerary. The recently opened D.I.G. is were you will become an archaeological detective and find out for yourself what York was really like through the ages, from Roman times to the present day.
