A tree-lined mall flanks both sides of the Corrowbeg River which flows through the beautiful town of Westport. Its location makes the town the perfect base from which to explore this part of Connacht, and the superb 4 star Hotel Westport provides the touch of luxury that makes this short tour pure Connemara Gold.

This year we again offer 5 departures. We return to Kylemore Abbey, Clifden and Achill Island and break our home-ward journey on the final day with a visit to Tom Hennigan’s unique Heritage Centre, near Foxford - for many now a high point of the tour - a real character in a real place.

Day 1 - Sunday

Our tour leaves Belfast at 9.00am and travels west through Enniskillen and Sligo, where we stop for lunch. We continue through Charlestown and Castlebar to our hotel in Westport.

Day 2 - Monday
Croagh Patrick & Kylemore Abbey

Following a relaxing breakfast we travel west, past Croagh Patrick, then south along Killary Harbour to our first stop, Kylemore Abbey. We continue to Clifden and then along the edge of beautiful Lough Inagh, before returning to Westport through Leenane.

Day 3 - Tuesday
Achill Island

A change of direction and scenery today as we drive north to Achill Sound, the causeway which takes us to Achill, the largest of Ireland’s off-shore islands.

This afternoon is free to enjoy charming Westport and the wonderful hotel facilities, including the superb leisure complex.

Day 4 - Wednesday
Tom Hennigan's House

We leave Westport this morning and commence our homeward journey, stopping at a fascinating heritage centre for a couple of hours en-route. The centre is built on Tom Hennigan’s family farm and tells the story of life in County Mayo in harder times.

After a farewell cup of tea we continue our journey, arriving in Belfast around 6.00pm.
