Find Your Translink Service

Planning your journey

Before undertaking a journey by bus or train everyone has to plan ahead. In the case of people with disabilities it may be all the more important to let staff know of your requirements before undertaking a journey.

While not all buses are fully accessible yet, all trains can now be easily accessed by steps or passenger ramps. However, Translink will be better able to assist you if you contact us as far in advance as possible, preferably at least 24 hours prior notice of your journey when travelling by train. This will enable us to make your journey as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

When contacting Translink staff it will be helpful to give the following information:

Please give similar details about your return journey, particularly if you will be returning on the same day or within a few days. If you need to cancel a journey for which particular arrangements have been made please let Translink know as soon as possible. It is important you inform staff of your requirements.

Translink staff are happy to assist you in any reasonable way they can. However we regret to inform you that due to health and safety requirements staff are not permitted to carry out manual handling involving people or heavy equipment.

Finally it will be worth reading the section detailing access features of both buses and trains and wheelchairs and mobility vehicles prior to travelling to ensure they will meet your needs.
