Train Cleaning

Train Cleaning Crew
As part of the new rail service NI Railways prepared a new strategy to train cleaning. The first step was the appointment of a Train Presentation Manager. Maybin Cleaning Services was then appointed as the new supplier and specialist rail consultants, Catalyst Rail Training, were brought in to develop new standards and checklists and to train the cleaning staff.  Train cleaning has seen a stepped improvement since this time.  In the last ‘Passenger’s Charter’ monitoring research, carried out independently by PriceWaterhouse Coopers (PWC), NI Railways was delighted to see that our customers markedly increased the ratings given for train cleanliness.

Fortwilliam Train Cleaning Facility
Fortwilliam train cleaning facility was built to accommodate the cleaning of the 23 C3K trains and is capable of stabling and cleaning up to ten of the three unit C3k trains at a time. The futuristic aluminium clad building incorporates an external wash area, facilities for the removal of waste from onboard storage tanks, a refuelling station, workshop, drivers’ accommodation, storage space and office facilities. The facilities have been designed to ensure that the trains are maintained to the highest possible standards.
