Follow these simple rules and youll reduce the risk of injuring yourself or other people.
- Never, ever play on or near the railway tracks.
- Stay clear - you cant always hear an approaching train.
- If you can hear a train it must be VERY CLOSE. Remember: if its heard, its here! Too late!

Safety on board
- Our new trains meet the very latest safety standards - each carriage has two fire extinguishers, emergency hammers and a first-aid box. These are there to help you or other passengers should there be an emergency.
- CCTV is in use at all times both inside the train and outside facing the track. It will spot anyone who may be a danger to themselves or the train.
- Always put your baggage in the proper storage areas not in the aisle or on seats.
- Show other passengers respect.
- Never tamper with the doors on the train.
- Remember CCTV can see you!

Crossing the track
- If you have to cross the track, always use the proper crossing point.
- At barrier crossings, always wait on the outside of the barrier when it is down. Never go onto the crossing until the barriers are fully raised and the warning lights are off.
- Always follow warning lights, notices, signs and other audible alarms.
- Always walk across never run or mess about.

Don't take chances on or near tracks!
- One train weighs over 140 tonnes about the same as 13 buses.
- Our trains travel at up to 90mph and safely deliver about 7 million passengers a year to their destination.
- Even in good weather conditions it can take up to a mile to stop more than the length of 6 football pitches.
- A train is four metres high almost the same as a double-decker bus so the platform is at quite a height. When a train is moving, the air stream it creates can pull you towards the gap so take care and stand behind the yellow line away from the edge of the platform.

Trespass and Vandalism
- Railway tracks are private property and anyone caught committing an offence could end up with a visit to court and a fine. Last year we prosecuted over 100 offenders who were fined a total of almost £15,000.
- So think twice because you will be caught. And you will face the consequences.
- All our new trains have CCTV - inside and out. So if you damage property or endanger other people, we'll see it. And see you in court.
NI Railways will make a CASH REWARD of up to £1,000 to any member of the public who witnesses any incident of trespass, vandalism or assault against a member of staff and is prepared to give evidence in court, resulting in a conviction.
