Public Information Projects
A number of large modern information kiosks have been installed in appropriate rural areas and points of interchange for maximum impact. Each kiosk displays intermodal service information together with community news.
Information provision has also been improved by the installation of 120 high quality London Transport style bus stops in four areas. Encouraging patronage by providing up-to-date information, demonstrating Ulsterbus is ‘alive and kicking’ in rural communities.
The design and development of service leaflets, adverts and posters publicising subsidised services continues to develop, utilising a variety of mediums and original ideas to catch the eye of the potential user.
The Rural Transport Unit are currently progressing the development of over 100 public information points to be located in public areas in villages throughout Northern Ireland. eg: libraries and post offices.
New Flexible Routes
The funding available from the RTF has made it possible for Translink to develop a number of experimental flexible routes. The proposed services will deviate off routes on request to pick up passengers in remote areas not normally served by public transport. It is hoped that flexible transport services will become operational in the Newcastle and Enniskillen areas in 2003.
