LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! TRANSLINK AND CINEMAGIC HELP YOUNG PEOPLE REACH FOR THE STARS
For the 5th year running Translink is proud to support the Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People which takes place in Belfast from 13th November – 5th December 2008.

This year’s 23-day festival promises to offer a packed programme of events to include international film screenings, big movie premieres, special guests, discussions, competitions and masterclasses in all aspects of film making.
In addition, Cinemagic are also offering a ‘Buy one get one free’ ticket promotion in association with Translink. Simply produce your Translink ticket, card or pass at the Cinemagic Box Office to avail of this offer.
Translink will once again be providing a free bus service for schools across Northern Ireland participating in the Cinemagic Education Programme Workshops for primary and post-primary levels. The workshops cover a diverse range of interesting topics from popular children’s TV show ‘Sesame Tree’ to documentary film-making and film-directing.

Cinemagic Primary School Education Programme
Primary School pupils can look forward to participating in a diverse range of festival events that include Animation and Design with Curtis Jobling (Bob the Builder, Frankenstein's Cat), Film Education Screening of E.T. : The Extra-Terrestrial, Sesame Tree Workshop - Make Your Own Muppets, Sesame Tree Q&A - A Chat with Potto and Hilda, The Art of Shadow Play with Frank Quinn, BFI Story Shorts Workshop for Pupils and Teachers, Aunt Sandra's Candy Factory Tour and special screening, Lifeboat Luke preview screening, ECO Footprint Workshop with Eco Unesco and That's Classified - BBFC Film Classification workshop.
Cinemagic Secondary School Education Programme
The Festival offers workshop and film packages to complement the post-primary curriculum with a special emphasis on students studying moving image arts and media studies. The highlights include Concept to Screen - Writing for Film with Faction Films, BAFTA Film Showcase and Q&A, An Introduction to Animation and Digital Sound using iStopMotion and GarageBand, Film Journalism Workshop with Film Ireland, Pitch that Brief - Pitching Your Documentary Idea to Channel 4, Directing for Film with Annie Griffin (Book Group, Festival), Film Promotion and Marketing with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Ireland, Film Education screening/discussion of The Orphanage, Film Production with Magma Films, Documentary Filmmaking with David Sington (In the Shadow of the Moon -audience award Sundance Film Festival), BFI 'Teen Rebels' Workshop, Film Classification with the BBFC, and An Introduction to Avid Editing.
