Chairman's Statement

It has been a year of good progress for public transport in Northern Ireland. Funding allocated by the Government for investment in new bus and rail services has resulted in improved services to our customers. Public transport now carries more people than it has done for a number of years and we are determined that this trend will continue.

New vehicles are cleaner and greener in emission levels and contribute to a better environment. Investment helps us to meet our obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act and enables us to meet our responsibilities for social inclusion in transport. Internal changes have helped us to become more focused and efficient as we strive to ensure that the public have safe and reliable services.

I take this opportunity to thank my Board colleagues, officials at the Department for Regional Development and the staff of Translink whose advice and support contribute so much to the development of our services.

I look forward to continuing to work in partnership with other stakeholders to deliver the goals of the RTS and a sustainable public transport network beyond the RTS horizon.

Veronica Palmer OBE
Chairman
