Passengers Set To Enjoy Ulsterbus Investment In New Vehicles

17 November 2008:

Bus passengers across Northern Ireland can soon enjoy the benefits of a £14 million Ulsterbus investment in new vehicles serving local areas.

The new buses aim to enhance passenger comfort, safety and accessibility and will all be in operation early next year.

Translink’s Acting General Manager for bus services Frank Clegg explained:

“These new modern easy access buses mark another milestone in the transformation of bus services in Northern Ireland offering improvements in comfort, quality and safety for all our passengers.

“They feature a wide low floor ramped access door increasing accessibility for all our customers particularly those with prams and buggies while passengers requiring wheelchair access will be able to board via a dedicated side door.

“We hope they will help to attract even more people to use our services as a better way to travel.”

This roll out will see many local areas benefiting from the new vehicles including: Larne (seven buses), Londonderry (seven buses), Newtownabbey (three buses), Downpatrick (four buses), Craigavon (five buses), Lisburn (five buses), Newtownards (five buses) and Newcastle (six buses).

Timetables for all Ulsterbus services are available by contacting Translink’s call centre on 028 9066 6630 or visiting www.translink.co.uk.
