Design Excellence recognised by Local Institution

18th March 2008:

On 27 February the Northern Ireland Branch of the Institution of Structural Engineers held their Centenary Awards ceremony at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall. The event, hosted by television and radio personality Wendy Austin, was to recognise the engineering excellence of projects in Northern Ireland completed since 2000.

The Institution presented awards in six engineering categories, including Transportation Structures (sponsored by Fisher Engineering), which was won by the Translink Train Care Centre at Fortwilliam. The design team, lead by Arup, fought off stiff competition from other distinguished projects including Belfast City Airport and another Translink project, the Bangor Bus/Rail Interchange.

The award was collected by Chris Caves of Arup, accompanied by Tom McClintock of Translink.
