Transport Holding Company Appoints Group Chief Executive

The Board of the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company (NITHCo) has today announced the appointment of Catherine Mason as the Group Chief Executive of the Holding Company and its operating subsidiaries (Translink). Catherine joins from the international transport group Arriva where she worked recently as Managing Director of Arriva Midlands (UK) and Commercial Director of CrossCountry trains, Catherine brings a wealth of experience in public transport.
Earlier in her career Catherine was the UK Marketing and Customer Services Director for Arriva Bus UK. This followed a very successful career in marketing for a number of ‘blue chip’ companies, including Grand Metropolitan, SmithKline Beecham, Dairy Crest and United Biscuits.
Commenting on the appointment, Veronica Palmer, Chairman of NITHC said, ‘the Board is delighted that Catherine has decided to join the company. Catherine brings a strong record of achievement from a career which has been customer focused’.

Catherine Mason graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BSc in Genetics and has an MBA from Henley Management College (full time). She is a Chartered Marketer and an elected Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She holds a Certificate of Professional Competence in National Passenger Transport Operations and is a PCV holder.
The Northern Ireland Holding Company is a public corporation and is the parent company of the subsidiary transport operating companies. Translink is the brand name for the transport operating companies which comprise Citybus, Northern Ireland Railways and Ulsterbus.
